Interlibrary Loan

If the item you need is not available through the University Libraries, you can request it via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL is a fast, free service which obtains materials for study and research, such as books, theses, and periodical articles that are not otherwise available. To submit an ILL request, use ILLiad.

Graduate students who are enrolled in independent study or thesis supervision, do not attend or teach courses on campus, and live more than 20 miles from the Lakeside campuses are eligible for distance education services.

Research Assistance

Librarians are available to assist with research any time the libraries are open. For immediate assistance, Ask a Librarian, or use one of our helpful Research Guides to find the most useful resources for your research topic. You can also request an appointment with a subject specialist for individualized assistance with identifying and locating resources. In addition, the libraries offer regular Classes & Workshops to sharpen your research skills.

Graduate Study Lounges (Cudahy 3rd Floor)

Graduate students can borrow a Study Lounge key at the Cudahy Circulation Desk. The key will open either of the lounge areas on the 3rd floor.

Graduate Study Carrels (Cudahy Library)

Study carrels are available to PhD candidates who are either 1) doing dissertation research, or 2) studying for comprehensive exams. Carrels assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is often a wait list. Please contact David Schmidt with questions about availability.
