Requesting books
The Information Commons and Lewis Library are open and Loyola students, faculty, and staff may request books and DVDs for contactless pickup. Requests may be delayed due to processing time. If you have any questions, Ask a Librarian here.
Our electronic resources, including e-books and databases, and streaming videos, are still available to Loyola students, faculty, and staff. More information about off-campus access.
Suggest a Purchase
If the library doesn't own a book or other resource you need, make a purchase request.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service which obtains materials that are not otherwise available in the University Libraries. To submit an ILL request, use ILLiad, or see Interlibrary Loan for more information. Requests for Interlibrary Loan articles and single chapters from books are still accepted, but some requests may not be filled, as all academic libraries are operating with limited staffing and resources.
Missing Books
If the item says that it is available, but it is not on the shelf, please submit a request using the Get It button after searching in the library catalog. A thorough search will be made and the item will be held for you if it is found. (You will be notified whether or not the search is successful.)
In Process & On Order
Patrons may submit an In Process or On Order Request for items currently in processing or on order. The items will be held for you after they are received and processed, and you will be notified by email.
- In Process: These items have been received by the libraries, but are awaiting processing. The materials will be available within 7 days at Cudahy; 1-2 additional days for other locations.
- On Order: These items have been ordered by the library but not yet received. It may take 4-8 weeks before these materials are received, depending on their availability.
