The Circulation Desk is the central service point for the library. All materials, including books, audiovisual materials, course reserves, and Intercampus or Interlibrary Loan requests can be checked-out from this location. See Borrowing for more information.

Borrowing Policies

Faculty members may check out up to 500 books at a time, and items borrowed by faculty and administration are not due until one year from date of checkout.

Renewals

Renew materials online using My Library Account. General collection materials may be renewed as often as needed, provided they are not overdue and no one has placed a recall on the items.

Paging & Intercampus Loan

Items from any Loyola campus or the Library Storage Facility can be pulled from the shelf and held for pick-up at any circulation desk. Use the Get It button in the item record in the library catalog. Books should be available within 2 business days and will be held for 10 days.

Faculty Office Delivery

Circulating books housed at Cudahy, Lewis and the Library Storage Facility are available for the service. Books are delivered to the faculty member’s office within 3-4 business days through intercampus mail. View full instructions for using this service.

Proxy Authorization

Faculty may authorize graduate assistants to charge out materials in their name. Authorization forms are available at any circulation desk. Faculty maintain responsibility for these materials.

Faculty may also establish an ILLiad proxy account to allow graduate assistants to request and check out interlibrary loan materials on their behalf. Faculty maintain responsibility for these items. To request an account, please submit the ILL Proxy Registration form.

Recalls

If an item held by Loyola University Libraries is checked out or unavailable you may request a recall, which will shorten the loan period to no more than 2 weeks. Use the Get It button in the item record in the library catalog. When the item is returned or becomes available, it will be held for you at your preferred library location.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service which obtains materials that are not otherwise available in the University Libraries. To submit an ILL request, use ILLiad, or see Interlibrary Loan for more information.

Suggest a Purchase

If the library doesn't own a book or other resource you need, make a purchase request.
